The miter rim is decorated with the figures of Christ the Great Archpriest, Saint Nikephoros, the protector saint of the particular cleric, and an inscription with the name of Nikiforos and the date 1731. Apostles Peter and Paul are portrayed on the other two sides of the rim. The embroidery uses mostly gold thread, and very thin gold wire for the flowers. Both the design and the technique are typical of the tradition of the era. The cap belonged to Nikephoros Marthalis Glykys (1728-1747), one of the most notable hierarchs of Sinai.
