Prophet Isaiah on the left reverences the Mother of God depicted in the Virgin of the Bush iconographic type, which refers to the most sacred site of the monastery, with Christ appearing suspended before her. This theme is reproduced widely in Sinai icons, each time with different prophets or saints.

The great number of such icons found today betrays the existence of a workshop of Sinai in the thirteenth century, a time of intense artistic activity in the monastery.
